Structured cabling
By Jennifer Garner

Structured Cabling is an international standard methodology for office building telecommunications cabling. Covered by many standards this technique is used in offices throughout the world. Usually the cable type used for Structured Cabling is Category 5 or for faster networks Category 6. This technique breaks a building down into subsystems. Each subsystem has different requirements, for example the entrance of a building needs to connect to the cable system of the outside world but the equipment rooms need to be connected to the computers internally. Cabling is laid in a star formation which makes it easier to manage and extend. This methodology is followed by many professional data cable installation companies. If you are considering a new office building, or possibly the renovation of an existing building it is well worth considering contracting a cable installation company who specialise in Structured Cabling techniques. This way you know you will get a well designed network that meets the detailed requirements of your office. It will also be well tested and therefore reliable. By using a standard methodology you can be sure that your office is using a networking technology that has been used in many other offices throughout the world.
