float switch
By John Jerrard

A Float Switch is a clever little fellow that can monitor fluid levels with ease. The Float Switch can operate when the fluid level receives a certain height and then operate a particular type of system. Commonly a Float Switch is used in numerous applications such as pump-control or irrigation systems. In theory the operation of the Float Switch is rather simple as it works when the level of the fluid reaches a cut off point. When this happens the Float Switch can trigger an alarm or operate a pump that can help to reduce the liquid to an acceptable level. Various manufacturers make different Float Switch products and some of the Float Switches come with a number of stages. If the first stage fails to react as it should the second stage can kick in which will stop the liquid from rising any further. Fuel tanks and the like can have a Float Switch within them which can stop the tanks from becoming too full. These clever little switches are available in many designs and they can be ideal for a vast array of applications. When fluid levels need to be monitored a Float Switch can be perfect for the task because it will keep a close watch over liquids of all varieties.
